Suits represents the seasons. The northern and southern hemispheres experience opposite seasons. The two most common seasons used for reading cards are meteorological and astronomical.
Meteorological seasons are determined by temperature, summer being the hottest quarter of the year and winter being the coldest quarter of the year.
Astronomical seasons are determined by solstices and equinoxes. The solstices are days when the Sun reaches its farthest northern and southern declinations. Equinoxes are days in which day and night are of equal duration.
Solstices and equinoxes vary in the length of days.
The March equinox takes 92.75 days until the June solstice.
The June solstice takes 93.65 days until the September equinox.
The September equinox takes 89.85 days until the December solstice.
The December solstice takes 88.99 days until the March equinox.
